Orthopaedic manipulative therapy is a specialised area of manual therapy which involves high velocity thrust techniques. This is an effective technique used primarily to reduce pain levels in injuries or to resolve general musculoskeletal discomfort.

Occasionally described by therapists or patients as a sudden “click”, the effects are generally immediate and not only limited to the musculoskeletal system. Research is showing more and more other aspects of manipulative therapy including beneficial neurophysiological effects (nervous system) and beneficial somatovisceral effects (organ/endocrine).
